🌸 Devotional Practice – A Daily Ritual of Coming Home 🌸

A devotional practice is more than just a habit—it’s a sacred ritual. A moment of pause. A time to deeply connect with yourself, your body, your breath, your inner guidance, and the divine. It is a gentle yet powerful act of devotion that nourishes your soul and cultivates peace of mind.

Creating space for a daily devotional practice builds self-trust. You begin to show up for yourself. You listen. You witness. You honour what’s alive within you—and in doing so, you anchor into presence and possibility.

A devotional practice doesn’t have to look a certain way. It can be anything that brings you home to yourself. A walk in the woods, a swim in the ocean, sitting in your garden listening to the birds, or simply resting your hand on your heart and breathing deeply. It’s the act of taking time to be still, to be alone, and to honour your inner world. What matters is that it’s intentional. A sacred moment, carved out just for you.

🌞 My Morning Devotional Practice

My own practice begins first thing in the morning, just after I sip my favourite decaf mushroom coffee.

I’ve created a personal altar—an evolving reflection of my inner world and the seasons of nature. It holds goddesses, oracle cards, fresh flowers, crystals, stones, poems, oils, and sacred images. I add to it intuitively, letting it mirror what I need.

Wherever I am in the world, I create an altar. Whether in a forest, by the sea, in a new city, or staying in a retreat space, I gather what I can—stones, leaves, candles, images, or small sacred items I travel with—to form a space of stillness and intention. In doing so, I ensure that my daily devotional practice is always accessible, no matter where I am. It becomes a portable sanctuary, a reminder that home is not a place, but a feeling I can cultivate within.

I begin by standing in prayer, calling in the goddesses, angels, my higher self, and Mother Earth. I ask to be filled with wisdom, strength, courage, and support. I give thanks—for what I have and for the unseen support that surrounds me.

I choose essential oils for the day—Wild Orange for zest and creativity, Balance for calm, Whisper for womb healing. I place crystals where they’re needed most and allow insights to rise and settle in my body.

I journal—sometimes a few lines, sometimes pages. It may be a fleeting thought, a poem, an unspoken emotion, or a simple observation of daily life.

I then move to music. I play Soul Sisters, a song I have written from the heart, I allow my body to stretch, flow, or dance as it desires. Movement brings me home to myself.

After movement, I shift into stillness and give myself Reiki, letting healing energy flow where it’s needed. I pull an oracle card—most often from my beloved Rebecca Campbell Rose Oracle deck. The messages always seem to speak directly to me, like whispers from the universe.

I close with 10 minutes of energising exercise—planks, sit-ups, squats, whatever my body craves.

This practice isn’t rigid. It has changed over time—and continues to evolve. I’ve let go of the idea of what I should do and instead tune into what wants to arise. Some mornings are soft and slow, others are alive with fire.

🍫 My Daily Cacao Ritual

I have another favourite daily ritual—I prepare cacao. I lovingly make it with oat milk, doTERRA Wild Orange, and Madagascan Vanilla. I cleanse the space with Palo Santo or sage. Sitting outside, I set an intention before letting the creamy liquid open my heart.

I sing or drum, calling in the spirit of Mama Cacao under our beautiful oak tree called Hope, who stands proudly in the gardens of New Moon Mill. Her presence feels ancient and wise, and she holds space for my prayers, songs, and tears. Sometimes I read my cacao poem, other times I call in my power animals. I often end by playing my crystal singing bowl or Tibetan gong, and journal if something meaningful arises.

These practices—whether 5 minutes or an hour—are my lifeline. They root me. They open my heart. They keep me connected to spirit, to nature, and most importantly, to my truth.

🌿 Why devotional practice is so powerful:

  • Builds self-trust and a sense of safety within

  • Creates a daily ritual of mindfulness and presence

  • Encourages emotional release and creative expression

  • Connects you to spiritual guidance and intuition

  • Helps balance your nervous system and bring peace

  • Grounds you in the wisdom of your body and heart

You don’t need a lot of time. Just willingness. A breath. A moment. A spark of devotion.
